Summer Solstice 2026»
18 Haziran 2026
During the medieval
Summer Solstice, people gathered to celebrate the longest day of the year with music, dancing, and great feasts. Villagers decorated their homes with flowers, oak leaves, and fresh greenery believed to bring good fortune and protection. Large bonfires were lit on hilltops, and people sang, danced, and leapt over the flames for luck and health. Herbalists collected special midsummer plants, as it was believed their healing powers were strongest on this magical night. Communities stayed awake until dawn, enjoying games, storytelling, and festivities beneath the stars.
May the spirit of the Summer Solstice bring warmth, joy, and abundant harvests to all.

Summer Garlands»
04 Haziran 2026
According to Latvian folk beliefs and ancient traditions, by
Midsummer (Jāņi) the homestead should be tidy and the fields well tended. It was believed that a diligent housewife would have weeded the garden and flower beds before the summer solstice, as only a well-kept farmstead could attract blessings, prosperity, and fertility.
People also believed that the flowers of a hardworking mistress bloomed more abundantly and beautifully, bringing good fortune and abundance to the household.
As Jāņi approached, women and young maidens went into the meadows to gather medicinal herbs, believing that nature’s power was at its strongest during the solstice.
They collected yarrow, St. John’s wort, meadowsweet, bedstraw, and many other plants, which were dried and stored for use throughout the winter. Young women wove wreaths from meadow flowers and herbs to bring health, fertility, and good luck.
By following these ancient traditions, 1100AD also wishes to remember and preserve the spirit of this cultural heritage, celebrating blooming gardens, rich meadows, and good health throughout the year!

The Fall of Acre»
24 Mayıs 2026
On May 25, 1291, the great coastal city of Acre in the Kingdom of Jerusalem fell to the Mamluk Sultanate after a devastating siege that marked the end of the Crusader strongholds in the Holy Land.
As survivors and merchants fled across the Mediterranean, tales of war and destruction spread rapidly through the ports of Europe and the Levant. In response to the growing instability, kingdoms began reinforcing their armies and securing supplies for future campaigns. Military quartermasters demanded vast quantities of saddles, shield straps, scabbards, boots, and hardened leather armor for soldiers preparing for prolonged conflict. The Leather Factory expanded its workshops as caravans carrying raw hides arrived from Anatolia, Syria, and the northern trade routes. Master tanners introduced stronger curing methods inspired by eastern craftsmen encountered during the Crusades. New drying houses and smoke pits were constructed beside the factory walls to accelerate production and preserve valuable materials. Merchants gathered at the city gates seeking contracts as wartime demand drove leather prices higher than ever before.
Under the banner of the “Siege Supply Expansion,” the Leather Factory became a vital center of military industry, supplying armies across the Mediterranean world.

The Battle of Fimreite»
19 Mayıs 2026[img=/images/social/forum_images/fimreite_battle.jpg]
In the cold waters near Fimreite, two rival kings prepared for battle. Sverre Sigurdsson led the Birkebeiner warriors against the forces of Magnus Erlingsson in the year 1184. Longships crashed together as arrows darkened the sky above the Sognefjord. Magnus trusted in his larger fleet, but Sverre used clever tactics and kept his ships tightly connected. As the fighting grew fierce, many of Magnus’s men were forced into the icy sea. One by one, the king’s ships were overwhelmed by Sverre’s warriors. Magnus Erlingsson tried to escape after his defeat, but he was killed during the chaos. The victory made Sverre the ruler of Norway and changed the balance of power in the kingdom forever.
The Battle of Fimreite became one of the most famous naval battles in medieval Norwegian history.

International Workers' Day, celebrated on 1 May, is a holiday that honors workers, their rights, and social justice. It began from labor movements in the 19th century, especially the struggle for fair working conditions and the eight-hour workday.
It began as a movement for better working conditions, but over time it has grown into a symbol of solidarity among people around the world. The holiday reminds us that respect, cooperation, and justice are essential for peaceful communities. On this day, we can reflect on how working together with kindness and respect creates a more harmonious world.
The spirit of spring also adds meaning, as nature renews itself and inspires hope and growth. Let this holiday be a reminder to embrace peace—so get green, go for gardening, and grow wonderful flowers and vegetables!
