One of the versions of the holiday origin says that it goes back to the days of the harsh rule of the Roman Emperor Claudius II. In those days, the empire was involved in numerous bloody wars, which people did not have much love for. Claudius the Cruel-hearted could not recruit soldiers for his legions. And he was sure: the reason was that the men did not want to leave their beloved at home. As a result, Claudius banned all betrothals and marriages in Rome.
And at that moment the Christian priest Valentine stood up to defend love. He began to hold marriages in secret despite the emperor`s ban. When Claudius was informed of such a violation of the decree, Valentine was seized and locked up, where he spent the rest of the days until his death on February 14, 270 AD.

Valentine`s Day, like Christmas, combines pagan rituals and Christian traditions. When the Romans conquered the British Isles, they brought with them the idea of ​​this holiday, and the ancient Britons adopted it from them. After the conversion to Christianity, the Lupercalia festival was moved back one day and combined with the celebration of Valentine`s Day on February 14th.

To pay tribute to this legend, a loving heart will appear in all cities, which will bring a gift every 12 hours.
