The year’s turning-point day draws closer – it’s the summer solstice day. The longest day in the year is also when – just once a year – we are going to have the shortest night sitting by the fireside with our family, friends or acquaintances. This holiday has many names and is celebrated on different days around the world. Therefore, the Holiday begins in the world of 1100AD already and the 1100AD team have prepared the special offers and innovations for you on this occasion!


THE HOLIDAY TREE
Knights celebrate the longest day – and the shortest night – of the year at the merry tableful. Having celebrated well, they go off in search of adventures as well as to check their knightdoms as they go.

The Holiday Tree will appear in all the towns and will bring their owners gifts marked by the festive bands once in 12 hours. Those are the oak-trees where one can also exchange the unique coins for various artefacts, resources, heroes and even soldiers.


THE HOLIDAY BUILDING

The peasants enjoy the games that their ancestors handed down to them. For instance, it is the game of leaping over the bonfires that has appeared in many towns. It is a good sign to throw coins in the fire. The most agile leapers can even try getting those coins out of the smouldering charcoals.
The bonfires have appeared in the towns and mercenary huts; one can explore them in the tactical mode and get 0 to 3 charred coins. Once the celebration is over, the luckiest coin collectors of each server will get valuable prizes as well as will be able to exchange the coins for various items!

THE LOTTERY
The festive lottery is waiting for the lucky ones; this time, there is the super prize: +1 mercenary camp control point (no limits). Please, bear in mind that 20% of the money to be made on the lottery will be donated to one of the orphanages in Riga.

Note: one can take part in the lottery by entering the Holiday Tree and going to the ‘Lottery’ tab. The rules of participating and the details are available right there, too.


THE NEW HEROES

The two completely new heroes are coming to us on these festive days; one can buy them in the in-game shop. They are the Russian Knight and the Mongol Khan. Also, you can find there the festive beauty – the Baltic Ligo Girl.


THE NEW COMBAT UNIT
The new soldiers – the Berserks – will fain join your armies now. They are very good; once in the sacred fury, they can even bring down the firm wall of spears and shields coming over them. Such soldiers can be bought in the in-game shop or exchanged for the charred coins.

Note: the Berserks require neither mercenary points nor population but there is a limit to how many one can have them. And one can only have 30,000 of them.


THE NEW QUEST LOCATION

The numerous refugees are drawing into the cities reporting of the barbarians that attack their villages. The guards sent out to check whether the rumours could be justifiable brought the startling news back: all the villages are burnt down to the ground while the heathen shrines are made in the fields for sacrificing ceremonies. Those who send the troops to fight the pagans will be rewarded dignifiedly.

Note: the quest location ‘Burnt Village’ will appear in your valleys randomly and only exist for a certain amount of time; it will be gone them. If a player has explored the location, it will be gone a few minutes after the exploration is over.


THE NEW ARTEFACTS

The new artefacts are showcased in the in-game shop and the auction: the Two-Handed Anglo-Saxon Axe, the Spanish Cruciate Dagger, the Norman Cruciate Sword, the Hospitaller Knights’ Shield and the Sea Compass. Those artefacts can also be found in the new quest location called ‘the Burnt Village.’

ADDITIONALLY FOR THE SERVER EL DORADO:

The unique soldiers make an appearance, for each of the fractions, on the Server El Dorado:
- The French Gendarmes are joining the France as the heavy cavalry.
- The English Cuirassiers are joining the England as the mounted shooters.
- The Portuguese Harquebusiers and their loaded harquebuses are ready to fire for Portugal.
- The Spanish Swordsmen will fight bravely for their native Spain as the new infantry troops.

Note: the players can only hire one unit type for the appropriate fraction. The number of the units available for hire depends on the number of the player’s towns as well as their type. The capital city lets hire more units than a historical city will. And a historical town lets hire more units than a lost town will. The lost town lets hire more soldiers than an ordinary port can and, last but not least, an ordinary port lets hire more soldiers than an ordinary town will.
The unique units can be hired in the castle in your towns.
