To build a fort, you need , quite a lot in fact. How much depends on how big you want the contour to be in the end.

The basic concept is:
- Build lakes (or walls on some new servers) around one of your cities, leaving open only one spot (in one of the cardinal directions).
A very simple example:

= lake / wall
= your city
= free spot

- Then place a mark tower in the left out spot of the contour of lakes / walls. You can do that (just like placing lakes / walls) by just clicking on the spot in the valley and selecting the correct option.
- Wait until the mark tower is finished, then select it, go to the small tower in the center and select the option to "Build a fort".
