I seem to have quest items when I go into the blacksmith. Once I build a certain amount of items, I believe I complete a quest. How do I get these several pieces to get the full item and eventually get enough to complete the quest such as golden ring?

As far as I know, there are no quests involving the blacksmith. the quest items are named that way just because you have to find them (I guess, I really do not know why they have the word "quest" on them). you can find them by killing adventurehut troops at these locations or by exploring the first two types of locations:
