Dear players, We are delighted of the opportunity to announce the launch of the open beta of the new server Koryo on this wonderful summer day. This is a unique event because we have never heretofore opened purely Asian server. The events taking place at the new server are set in 1231, which was the time when the Great Khan Ugedey of the Mongols invaded the Korean state of Koryo. The players are offered the choice of the five superpowers of that epoch and region: – The Mongol Empire; – The Song Dynasty; – The Jin Dynasty; – Koryo; – The Kamakura Shogunate. The Koryo is a PvE server with a great many PvP elements and is very different from its predecessors. The unique features of the Koryo Server: 1. The States The system of states present at the earlier servers like Britannia, Outremer and the Golden Horde had undergone substantial changes and serves as the backbone of the Koryo. Orders and individual players can still wage wars under the flag of this or that state just like is the case on those three servers; however, now the states have the personified rulers who are able to interact with their subjects. Any player will contribute to the advancement of his or her nation. The choice of any one of the five nations predetermines the player’s ethnic association and the territory in which he/she will appear. The states are in the same diplomatic relations right now that they really were in during the year 1231. 2. The Political Map and the Regions The geographic map of the Koryo is divided into numerous regions that connect to show the factual political map representing the influence of each side. The political map changes will occur only within the regions. Each region is controlled by the Stronghold, which is a new type of a town with a unique set of properties and opportunities that it grants. 3. The Fortresses and the Historical Cities The Koryo introduce a new topographic object called the Fortress. It is a city of a special kind with a limited list of permitted buildings; it gives its owner a hefty selection of very substantial and absolutely new options. The Fortress cannot be put in a contour; neither can it be relocated or renamed. The player who has the Fortress can do the following: - Levy tribute on all the towns of his/her region that belong to the same nation to which he/she does; - Accelerate trade campaigns (caravans) moving about in the region; - Offer the most beneficial resource exchange rate on the market; - Protect the region’s historical cities belonging to the nation of the Fortress Player from captures (that is, one should first capture the local Fortress before one can capture a historical city in the region that it controls)*; * This protection does not apply to resource looting and to such historical city owners as Neutrals (previously known as noCommander). ** The ordinary cities have the same functionality and protection features as they have on the other PvE servers such as the Bohemia and the Grail. 4. The Reputation System The server has the new reputation system that provides for the direct and reverse relation between the players (and their orders) and the rulers of their nations. Many acts taken by the players will influence their rulers’ attitude towards them – and in some cases they will even influence the enemy rulers’ attitude, too. For instance, if you have captured an enemy Fortress you will have the benevolence of your ruler that can take the practical shape of his interest in your person or the desire to give you a mission. 5. The Graphical Stylisations and the New and Unique Units Because the Koryo is Asian-themed, our specialists have reworked the majority of the game contents to make it appear as authentic to that particular part of Asia as it was in the 13th century. There are 112 historical cities on the server and each of them is associated with one of the five nations. One can build the “national” barracks in each of them so that one can train the following unique combat units: - Koryo Hwarang (Koryo); - The Jin Cavalry (the Jin Dynasty); - The Gunpowder Infantry (the Song Dynasty); - The Mangudai (the Mongol Empire); - Nodachi Samurai (the Kamakura Shogunate); 6. The Other Particulars of the Server: - It is temporarily impossible to build mercenary huts on the server but the existing ones can be captured very well; - It is temporarily disallowed to exchange glory points between players; - The sea travel system works similarly to Britannia and Outremer; - There are no rare (artefact) buildings on the server for the time being; - The library occupies a 2x2 tile area instead of the usual 1x1 tile one; - It will be possible to upgrade mercenary huts from the 1st level to the 5th level in the future. All the mercenary huts found on the Koryo Server map are on the 1st level as it is. The 1st level huts give little glory points (much fewer than on the other servers). The mercenary hut upgrade function is off now, but will be turned on in the near future; - The auction commission has been reduced from 50% to 20%. - The observation towers in cities and forts can be demolished without having to declare a war; - mercenary camps can be captured the same way, historical cities are; - when buying a gold or silver subscription for a duration of three or more months, player receives a conditionally free hero of level 12-16 as a bonus; - it is now impossible to build a Library building in Fort. We would like to remind you all that the new server is in the open beta testing mode yet and that it will be improved constantly beginning very shortly. If the players find bugs, omissions or irregularities they are kindly requested to take them with understanding and have some patience, please. |

I cant agree, its a PvE server, your cities wont be destroyed or captures. Additionally, even a mega gold spender can't have too much advantage here just because his army is limited - no merc points exchanges (btw its a huge advantage of this server - no more stupid interservers exchanges, no multiaccounting => no funny armies with over 800.000!!! mercs), no more selling merc points by selling merc camps. So finaly its a first server where two-three average armies can beat top players. So, i think its the only server where its really worth to invest gold. The only thing that makes me worry is a word "temporarily" in the announcement. This one may screw this server just like all others. |
