About twenty minutes ago, I conquered the city of Ripfield near my other cities, and entered, only to discover that that city has a negative population count.

The city has only a line of walls going most of the way around, two watch towers, and the castle. Everything else is as if the city had just been founded, i.e., no resource sites built or anything other than what I listed.

I logged out, then back in, and it still shows this negative population count in that city.

Is there a way that this can be corrected?

Just build farms.

Some one had gone in there in the past and destroyed everything except the walls. This means that the farms that were built were destroyed. The population that used up the farm's population (walls) would go negative since there is no population left since there are no farms, but the walls are using some pop which puts it in the negative. All you need to do is build farms. Just transport some resources from your other city to the new one.

Thanks for the info, Billy.

As I was already maxed out on the resources, and attempting to build anything at all resulted in a message about insufficient population, I had no choice but to slowly whittle down the walls until the population reached a positive count, which happened a little while ago.

I immediately got a couple of farms built, and things should be fine from here on in.

building farms require no population.

Good to see you got everything to work out!
