melee-go to hand to hand combat
adaptive-basically the same if you have any melee troops in army
range-stay back at furthest point possible while shooting

you are talking about the agression-level? Your troops(:myself:) can stay on the place were you put them or go toward your enemy (:enemy:)and look for trouble.(:attack:)

Formation are basicly your defence-lines, who is going to take the first blow, when you are attacked.

other direction

what do you mean by this? if you log out, your troops will not move unless AI commands them by your army aggression and attack range settings.

well you have army control lag which is very important. its under settings in the profile screen. next you have aggression setting and attack range setting in the tactics screen under far left tab (must have a selected army to see this tab)
