It was one of those early spring evenings when our uncle Christopher told us about his interesting journey and found treasure. The same treasure of bandit Lykos is hidden in the Peloponnese.
Lykos wasn't your everyday bandit. He was something of a Robin Hood figure during the tumultuous days of the Turkish occupation of Greece. He stole not just for personal gain but also to redistribute wealth among the oppressed Greeks, earning him a revered spot in local folklore.
Want to listen to his intriguing story?
Recent storms have sent our ship far from our usual route, our captain managed to escape from harsh winds and get into the lovely bay of the small island. The ship's crew worked hard next 2 days and fixed all the damage. When everything was ready for leave, our helmsman said - that everyone should attend that ancient temple and express their passion and care to God. I was the only one who went with him. I bring some nice flowers as a small gift. The next day early in the morning we continued our journey, everything seemed fine, but soon we saw a strange concentric island separated by wide moats and linked by a canal that penetrated the center. When we decided to explore at least the nearest ruins, we suddenly were attacked by a sea monster with long, snakelike arms. Only sheer damn luck allowed us to run from him as fast as our ship could. Tired and far from the needed path we wanted some rest, and freshwater so we managed to stop at another small island. There were a lot of fruit trees and lucky for us some of them were ripe, so we took our time and collected enough for the next few weeks. While tail-wind was good for us, we played some games to pass the time faster. Our quest soon started again, and next time when we stopped to collect some spring water, I saw a dark grotto. This natural cavern was full of cobwebs that hung from the ceiling like thick blankets. Light streams in from an unknown source, illuminating the room and door in the dark. The atmosphere is eerie, with a palpable tension in the air, and the sound of dripping water can be heard echoing throughout the cavern. I feel that need to find out - what is behind that strange door. After several battles, I found my way out, but the exit led to a wetland of soft, spongy ground. It was hard enough to get out, but we found some strange accessories for small tubular instruments. After a few days, we saw a famous volcano, which constitutes a magnificent sight and attraction of formed the island and gave it its current shape and geomorphology by a massive volcanic eruption, thousands of years ago. Of course, I went to explore a wonderful worship place with a great aura. Then I feel lucky enough to win at least some candied apple. Then I buy and trade some nice things at the local market and sail home. Only at home I realize - that luck was with me every day and I finally figured out - where Lykos had hidden his treasure!
