Is there any point in attcking these settlements? There seems to be alot of Tribes there and not wanting to waste anyone thought id ask!

By exploring he means going to the middle of the map and do something like conquering a castle!!!
The first time i got there I circle the mines for like 3 times and waited to see if anything happened.

yes, right in the middle of the map is an entrance ... if you live long enough to get there maybe you'll find something (experience for your hero or some resources).
but anyway is that an adventure hut?
