Just as we have promised, this time (21.05.2015) went to the orphanage ‘Rīga’, one of the branches of which is situated in the town called Baldone. It nestles more than 170 people of the completely different ages and the equally differing physical and mental capacities. This count includes 82 children aged 4 to 18.

We were welcomed with glad smiles on the faces; the boys helped us unloaded 2 vehicles full of goods very quickly; the stock was put in one of the gyms of the orphanage. We had collected 20+ bags of clothes and toys ourselves as well as with the help from our friends and employees. We had also collected the charity money that we had spent on musical instruments, trampolines, outdoors sofa-shaped swings and various pools for the special hydrotherapeutic procedures.

The administration of the orphanage walked us around the premises; it was very interesting. We walked in almost every door that was open. Every room was in order and all those very different children were very polite; we could not leave a single room without a couple of tender hugs and dozens words of appreciation.

The orphanage gives the little ones a very broad range of occupations including drawing and painting, sewing, cooking food, handiwork, a musical class and various physical exercises. Some tenants go to the ordinary school; those who aren’t able to have the in-house school. Though the children have the limited capacities, this does not keep them from plunging themselves into the world of creativity and make various remarkable handcraft items.

The thing that struck us as the most wonderful is that the administration of the orphanage have been taking care of some children since they were infants – and have and are making brilliant achievements. This is proven by one case of a girl who was born into this world to have a horrible diagnosis; the doctors said she would never be able to walk. But miracles happen. On that day, we saw the little darling aged 5 and that girl was running around, smiling and even playing with the other children.

We felt the pleasant harmony, tranquillity, cleanness and order while at the orphanage. The air was filled with love and care.
