Yes, there are several historical maps and campaigns in the 1100 AD game where you can play as the Byzantine Empire. Some of these maps include:
- The 1071 Battle of Manzikert: This map recreates the famous battle between the Byzantine Empire and the Seljuk Turks, which resulted in a major defeat for the Byzantines.
- The 1096 First Crusade: This map covers the first crusade, in which a group of European knights and warriors set out to reclaim Jerusalem from the Muslims.
- The 1111 Siege of Nicaea: This map recreates the siege of Nicaea, a key city in Anatolia that was captured by the Seljuk Turks in 1077.
- The 1122 Council of Clermont: This map covers the council of Clermont, where Pope Urban II called for a crusade to reclaim the Holy Land.
