Independence Day is considered to be a true birthday of the United States of America as free and independent country. Most americans call this holiday simply by it's date - 4th of July.

On September 5th 1774 First Continental Congress as a convention of delegates from twelve colonies met in Philadelphia. The Congress met briefly to consider options, including an economic boycott of British trade; rights and grievances; and petitioned King George III for redress of those grievances. But british Parliament did not repealed or modified the Coercive Acts, as they were called, conflict was escalated and war has begun in 1775.

Americans not only defended colonies' interests, but fought against British dominion. Continental Congress claims were defined in Declaration of Independence, signed on 4th of July by colonies' governors. The Declaration justified the independence of the United States by listing colonial grievances against King George III, and by asserting certain natural and legal rights, including a right of revolution. Declaration was signed by 56 delegates, and two future U.S. presidents, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, were among the signatories.

To celebrate this day the 1100AD team gives Declaration of Independency artifact to all players.
