![]() Dear players, 443 years ago, world's first atlas of the modern type - Theatrum Orbis Terrarum (eng. Theatre of the World) was released. Written by Abraham Ortelius and originally printed on May 20, 1570, in Antwerp, it consisted of a collection of uniform map sheets and sustaining text bound to form a book for which copper printing plates were specifically engraved. The Ortelius atlas is sometimes referred to as the summary of sixteenth-century cartography. I have found a digital copy of this great compilation of maps. You can find it here. (preferably knowledge of Latin) ![]() In this topic, you can discuss all kinds of maps, from naval to star maps. |
