As a newbie, the best use for your diamonds is the 50k ressource option to get a second city control point (only when library is at level 10) or getting a newbie-subscription (if you can).

Well, that's my opinion. (:s30:)

If you take the 50k, make sure you use them fast because they will disappear if you don't.

thanks for the warning on the resources disappearing heard about the person who lost 50k worth and I did not want to follow in those steps

Ok I've upgraded my storehouse to level 12 which would cover only a 6 diamond 10k purchase this allows me to accelerate upgrading all of my resources and start those walls the tutorial wants (expensive and doesn't make strategic sense at this time in the game but appears to be necessary to protect the ability to move forward with the tutorial and not loose the rewards opptys)

(my relatively small hord came from some provided due to the server issue this week and the tutorial diamonds)

I'd prefer to wait for a more economical 50k resource purchase for 22 diamonds but given the potential loss of resources since the store house maxes out at 29k each resourced it might not be a good option

What's the best way to earn extra diamonds?

Personally, I avoided spending diamonds on resources and saved them. The best way to earn diamonds without external means is to make sure you log in each and every day, even if it's only for a few seconds. You get one free diamond each day if you log in. If you always stay logged in and never log out, you lose those diamonds.

Some people more experienced than me could give you a better advice on what is really worth spending diamonds on. I used mine on heroes at 80 diamonds when they are available. A good way to get resources at your level is to look around you for faded cities and look at the ones ran by Neutrals (noCommander). Look for the ones below 10k, even 5k ones can give a really good output. Build some carts and go visit these towns, be careful and look closely at the combat log.

Small cities will have the advantage to have smaller groups of marauders which will be easy to kill for your small army. At your level, even getting 2-3k of each resources that way is a positive outcome. Be patient and don't try to go too fast, and be aware that you might lose your army more than once. I lost my entire army in the rob a city part of the tutorial, and a few times after.

About the wolves, they spawn at one of the gates.

Thank you, I haven't spent the diamonds on a resource purchase yet since I was going to let it just run overnight on auto settings for upgrades.

I didn't realize I had to log out and back in to get the diamond I just thought I had to be logged in. Will the auto setting still run when I am logged out?

It also helps to know that Neutral designates no Commander I was wondering who this character was that had so many towns. There also appears to be lots of new city's everywhere.

I was wondering how many people get fustrated and abandon the game and those cities. (keeping the diamond thread going) Would locating diamonds also be gained as part of exploring or capturing an abandoned or neutral city ?

Everything will continue to run when you're logged out. Diamonds are tied to your account, you can't get any when you capture a new city.

Just a small addition for the 50k ressources for diamonds option:

I suggested this for one reason only, which is to get your second city control point quickly once your library is maxed to level 10.
That is the only point in the game where buying ressources for diamonds makes sense on the long shot. (Not thinking about quickly restoring your army, because you might need it again soon.)

The problem with the ressources dissappearing (when there is more then your storage capacity) is existing as of right now, but it's not important for my suggestion, since the reesources wouldn't dissappear in the short time between being bought and then being spent in a level 10 library.
