I started the game yesterday. i had a problem with the tutorial and it has skipped most of the challenges, not a huge problem since i think the building is relatively simple. anyway to the point whats the best to spend gold as i have just purchased 500 gold.
thanks in advance for any advice given! |

Few things, it might have looked like it skipped the tutourial, but it probably just moved onto the next one once you completed the challenge.
As for the gold, it depends what you want to do with it. Yes, it is a cop-out answer, but allow me to explain. If you want more heroes, then you could invest in it buy going to the tavern and buying one, or look in the auction (also go to the tavern). A hero costs 5 gold a day to upkeep (if it is not a free hero). You can auction the hero off at a high price (1000 gold) which will kill the hero and it will lose all of the exp. This would however allow you to not pay while he is in auction, or while he is dead (he can be revived in the tavern within 7 days of the auction ending). If you like string armies, you could spend the gold on buying mercenary camps which cost 500, 700, 1000 and 1200 gold. They give you the respective amount of merc points back (1 : 1 gold : merc points). In addition, you could buy obelisk vassal spots which advances the number of vassals/merc control points without having to spend resources. If you like to speed up the game, you could also build some buildings, then click the icon next to the building in the cue that is being built and use the "finish now" feature which helps to speed up the game for you as you build up. You can buy subscriptions which give you several bonuses, click the gold button next to your resources to find out more. There are several more ways that you could spend gold, but these are just a few. |

ah i didnt know this thanks!! but i gess at this point its kind of pointless since i have an extreamly small army. great tip for the future though! i have done this several times so far, great use of gold as far as i can see helping me get a nice head start. can you explain what this means please? i have 50 diamonds from buying gold, so i was thinking of buying some subscriptions with the diamonds that seem to be free when buying gold and +1 free diamond a day? thanks you billy_Talent you have been a great help! |

Sorry, that was a terrible typo! I meant strong armies. Merc points allow you to build advanced troops which are fairly handy to have! As for your problem, I have seen something like this before. When I first started to play on bohemia, I logged in and clicked the server to start. The next thing I knew, I was sitting in on some one else's game! They too were starting out, and the both of us were controling the game. I logged out and everything was fine. It is an odd glitch (if it even is at all) but to be honest, a lot of the begining rewards are pathetic. Hope you have a good game! Try out Grail some time, I would be glad to help you out |

Billy_Talent u are a great help! thank you very much!
at the moment i do have a level 1 obelisk of glory providing me with 100 merc points but it seems i have none of them avaible to hire at the moment. i have checked the forum and this seems normal from what i can see. i seems that horse archer and Norman archers are great to have for a long range battle. royal guards are great as a last ditch attempt to kill enimies before engaging in melee as they have a large attack but small range. the ballista looks like a great tool also to bring down buildings and an upgraded version of rams/catapults. Billy_Talent thanks for your help over the past few days, you have given me a massive point in the right direction! |

You may be looking at the OB (Obelisk) mercenaries. Those mercenary can only be hired if you own the corresponding camp. Check your regular mercenaries in the castle. Those guys appear randomly so the amount you can hire fluctuates. http://www.1100ad.com/wiki/Mercenary_Camps |
