its not a game to waste your life on... only log in a hour a day or something in the begining... try the siege server, cost money, but game play is very fast, at level 2 or 3, resource extraction is 600

Perhaps the game is a bit slow starting out, but it lets you grasp the basics to run more than 1 city, extracting, forming armies, population, walls, etc.. If you started off with 1000 Coal, Lime, Wood, Stone and Iron it would be to easy. It's better to start off small, grasp the concept of the game and then get better. You won't learn anything otherwise.
I agree that the extraction resources should be at level 2 when you first sign up though. Also, I spend a couple of hours a day on this game. After 12 hours, your resource stacks up a lot and you can build a great civilization.
It gets better in time. Just don't get fustrated or give up.

that's actually correct.the game is made to start slow,but don't give up,because 4-5 weeks later the game actually gets funny,and you never know what will happen,and you are upset.that is why the game is,i think,made for.
