Underground passage

Underground passage is an infrastructure facility that connects cities, forts, and locations of players, with the objective to speed up the travel of troops between them. It can be build by choosing it from the repairmen structure.

Players can build an underground passage if:

  1. If the players are in a vassal relationship. The lord has the possibility to dig out the passage to any of their direct vassal, as well as their direct vassal will dig it to their lord and to other direct vassals of their lord.
  2. If players are in one order. Knights can join their cities, locations, and forts with a passage between them or the master.
  3. Players can dig an underground passage to their own cities, locations, and forts. Gold is required to build it. Cost to build the passage in one valley is 200 gold, while the cost of building into another valley is 400 gold.

The passage speeds up the movement of troops by 30-50%. During the transportation process in the underground passage between two cities, the speed of travel is still influenced by the hero's logistics, artifacts, campaign acceleration and order bonuses. The building process takes a fixed amount of time on the same valley (1 day 17 hours) and a few days or weeks into other valleys. The list of dug out underground passages can be seen in the city's menu. Click the triangle under the city name on the green panel.

The underground passage is most valuable to PvE servers, as well as connecting the most valuable objects of the player or order, where they transport troops most frequently or where the speed of their arrival is crucial. It is necessary to see how the passage works based on an example. In case where player A and B have an alliance, and there is a passage build between the cities, then there is no guarantee for player B that when the alliance is broken, player A's troops will not arrive into player B's city through the passage. You should carefully select your ally with whom you decide to build a passage, since in case of a war they can attack you via this passage. The city inside the contour can be reached via the underground passage, if there is one, skipping the fort. A passage cannot be dug out from or into the contour if the player is at war with the owner(s) of the fort, even if you are trying to join cities between knights of the same order. You can destroy the underground passage in your city. To do that, enter the repairmen building and click on “destroy”. In the mercenary locations the passage from other cities cannot be destroyed. It will cost 100 gold to destroy it.

The passage can be dug out to the mark tower, but because they can self-destroy before the passage was completed, such option is not considered as a good investment of resources.

Please note that on Britannia server underpass price is calculated differently from other servers'. This is so because there is only one single valley on Britannia. The minimum price is 200 gold and the longer is the distance between two cities, the higher is the price for building an underpass.
