Obelisk and mercenaries

Mercenaries appear in the castle only after the Obelisk of Glory is built. Their types, characteristics and prices can be viewed in the castle under the tab "Mercenaries".

As we can see in the picture, there are now 38 Horse Archers, 6 Royal Guards, 49 Highwaymen and others available for recruitment. This is just an example, their count is not constant. Moreover, it is more often that none are available. They don't appear IMMEDIATELY after the Obelisk is built. They also do NOT appear in large amounts. It is better not to expect all kind of mercenaries inflow. You will have to wait a day or more, sometimes 3-4 days for a full assortment, but it can also happen that some mercenaries will not appear even within a week.

In the castle under the Mercenaries tab there is a button "Call to Arms." You can see it on the picture on the top right. Call to arms costs 50 gold and after clicking on this button many mercenaries will appear and remain available until recruited.

Note: the count of mercenaries that appear in the castle when pressing "call to arms" depends on the Obelisk level, the bigger the level is the more mercenaries that will appear.

To hire mercenaries having resources is not enough, you must also have Mercenary Points that can only be gotten by building an Obelisk Of Glory. Right after Obelisk is Built player is given 100 Mercenary points, the second level Obelisk gives 240 and so on. A level 10 Obelisk requires 6890 of population which is almost an entire city population, so it is a good idea to have an individual city for the Obelisk.

If you demolish an Obelisk you will lose your mercenary points. If you have more mercenaries than you have points your troops will go hungry and eventually die. If you have obelisk that you don't want to demolish but want it in a different city you can move it by paying 650 of gold.

A new building-Fointain of Glory-also gives mercenary points. To build and upgrade it you will need gold. The Fountain takes 2 times the amount of population per point. For example, and upgrade costing 600 people will only return 300 mercenary points.

A third way of obtaining Mercenary points is to get them from a vassal or order. To do so first invest resources or gold into Obelisk of Glory in the tab "Obelisk":

Invest the required amount of resources to have the ability to have one vassal, then 2 and so on. When making a treaty with a vassal you can declare, besides paying gold and resources also paying with mercenary points, so that the vassal will give them to you from their Obelisk so that the amount of mercenary points will be only limited by your might.

The total mercenary points that are available to be used are in the left top corner, on the green band near to the star - on the first picture - as it can be seen in this picture there are 440 available. With this number of points you could hire for example 36 Highwayman and 73 Royal guards, or any other combination that equals 440. After mercenaries die mercenary points are returned, the resources are not.

You can only have one Obelisk no matter how many towns you control. When capturing another town the extra Obelisk will be demolished automatically if you already have one.

Hiring mercenaries is allowed in castle of any town, not only where Obelisk is built.

In the March-April a new type of mercenaries appeared in the game, those can only be hired in the Obelisk or Fountain of Glory, read more about them in the articles «наёмники» и «лагерь наёмников».
