Who is leader (hero) and what is it purpose?
Leader – is a fighting unit, which besides the possibility to fight, gives bonuses depending on its skills, to all units of the army where he is himself.
When army, which has a leader in it, kills units of the enemy, leader gets experience. When got certain experience value, hero level is increased and hero receives free points which can be set for skills raise.
Take care of your leader, in case of his death in a fight, he looses all his experience on current level.
Free leader is choosen in the castle, also there you can watch him growing and assign (choose) skills. But extra heroes can also be hired in tavern for gold on different purposes. Keeping such hero also costs money, 5 gold per day. Keep in mind, that hired hero will automatically die if not get its 5 gold per day.
Having a few hero makes hero skills growing more difficult, because if there are few heroes in one army, experience they get in fights will be divided(shared by all) between all of them.
Only heroes have special opportunities such as besiege castles of enemies towns, capture new towns, explore quest locations and receive bonuses or experience.
Heroes deaths and resurrections
- after death hero can be resurrected only after 15 minutes
- if hero is the only one and free - you can resurrect him for free in the castle
- if you do not want to lose points that hero received between levels - you should build temple up to 5 level, for 100 of gold you can resurrect hero without loosing his experience.
- if hero is for pay - resurrection is also for pay
- in the beginning you are given one hero and it is for free
- on the new 2010 year each was given another free hero, sister Margharita, she is for free until she dies.
- if she is killed, her resurrection is for pay and her future keeping costs 5 gold per day.
- if there is no gold on your count, hero dies and resurrection is for pay.
- if hero is not resurrected within 7 days, it disappears, best disappeared heroes go to auction, where they can be bought by other players.
- when you put your hero on auction it automatically dies
Do bonuses of different heroes sum up?
Bonuses from different skills of a few leaders will influence army like bonuses from different skills of one leader, i.e they sum up.
Bonuses of the same skills of different leaders will sum up in some nonlinear formula. Approximately, if bonus of some skill of first leader will work with whole 100%, then the same bonus of another hero skill will be used on 60%, third leader with same skill bonus - 20%, if there are more leaders with the same skill bonus, their bonus won't be counted at all.
What skills does a hero have and what do they give?
Hero skills give bonuses to all units of the army where he (hero) is.
Alltogether there are three levels for each skill, that give (approximately) bonuses:
- +10%
- +25%
- +45%
For getting each level you need to spend 1, 2 and 3 free skill points respectively, i.e to get 3rd level you will have to spend 6 points. To check which level of each skill your hero actually has, click on your castle and check the small Roman numbers (I, II or III) at the bottom of each skill image or, alternatively, the background colors: green indicates level 1, orange level 2 and red level 3.
- Leadership – increases morale of units. For example, if there are 1000 archers in one army, then in the fight will participate (cause damage) only some part of them, approximately from 100 - 250 archers, the rest won't cause damage. Skill Leadership will allow to increase that count of units that cause damage simultaneously. Also this count is influenced by morale of units themselves and bonuses of tavern (in future also artefacts and other buildings.)
- Logistics – reduces time of campaign in the valley for all armies if there is a leader at least in one of them.
- Pathfinding – reduces time of movement between cells on tactical map.
- Scouting – first level +1 to leaders range, second level - +2, third level +3. This way leader with third level of scouting skill will see within 4 cells, which is more than usual scout, who sees within 3 cells.
- Knowledge – increases experience got by hero in the fights.
- Defender – increases time of life of all units in the hero army.
- Archery – increases damage caused by all archery in the army of hero.
- Fighter – increases damage caused by all fighters in infighting: mercenaries, swordsmen, pikemen, royal guards.
- Cavalry - increases damage cause by all cavalry units.
- Ballistics – increases damage caused by mechanisms - catapults, rams and ballistas in the army of the hero.
- Healing - heals some army when returning from a campaign:
- first level - from 0 to 5,
- second level - from 0 to 15,
- third level - from 0 to 20,
You should count, that not all units can be healed but only those built in barracks, workshops and stables, but not mercenaries. Healing is happening when army is returning from a campaign to a town where there is free population.
Which way do hero skills sum up?
Summing up bonuses is not linear, each next hero will give less and less bonus. If in one army there are 4 or more heroes with the same skill, then bonus will give only first three heroes.
Will give an example: there are two heroes in the army - A and B.
Hero A has third level of the Archery skill - i.e damage caused by archers in the heroes army is increased on 45%.
If hero B in the same army, archery skill is on first level, i.e 10%, then from his skill will go only 60% and increase of damage cause by archers will be 6% If to sum the % of hero A and hero B bonuses up it will be 45+6=51%.
